  11. I’m most interested in artists who photograph the working class. As the son of a carpenter and house cleaner, I get to witness the struggle of a blue collar family every time I go home.

One of my favorite contemporary photographers documenting the lives of the working class, in such a beautiful aesthetic, is Curran Hatleberg. He is visiting New Paltz in March and YOU SHOULD ALL GO SEE HIS LECTURE. I’ll be in New Orleans at SPE when he visits, and it’s killing me that I won’t be able to meet and critique with him.

Other more obvious photographers: Dorothea Lange, Sebastio Salgado, Lewis Hine
